| Welcome to Makarand.com!Makarand Paranjape is a Professor of English at Jawaharlal Nehru University's Centre for English at the School of Language, Literature and Culture Studies. He teaches courses at the M.A. and M.Phil level and guides doctoral research. His M.A. courses include American Literature, Indian Literature in English/Translation, Readings in Literary Theory and Criticism, and M.Phil courses include Research Methodology and Introduction to Contemporary Literary Theory.From 1994-99, he was Associate Professor in the Department of Humanities & Social Sciences at Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, where he taught a variety of courses including Preparatory English, English in Practice, Introduction to Literature, American Literature, Indian Writing in English, Workshop in Creative Writing, Modern Indian Fiction in Translation, and Science and Humanism at the Undergraduate level, and Contemporary Critical Theory and Indian Writing in English at the Pre-Doctoral level. Before that, he held several teaching posts in Hyderabad University's Department of English from 1989 to 1994, teaching M.A. and M.Phil. level courses such as Commonwealth Literature, 17th Century Literature, Victorian Literature, Literary Theory and Criticism, Indian Writing in English, a Special Author course on Sarojini Naidu, and Introduction to Research Methodology. In addition to his regular teaching activities, he has served as a paper-setter and examiner for M.A. English in various universities including Osmania University, Gulbarga University, Punjab University, the Jamia Milia Islamia, and the North-Eastern Hill University. He has also examined M.Phil and Ph.D. theses at various universities including University of Western Australia, Karnataka University, Osmania University, University of Delhi, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Bangalore University, Jamia Milia Islamia, University of Pune, Trivandrum University, M.S. University of Baroda, Aligarh Muslim University, and Goa University. Other activities Makarand is General Editor of a series of reprints of rare and out-of-print Indian English titles published by the Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi, and Editor of Evam: Forum on Indian Representations, an international biannual journal. He is also Managing Trustee of the non-profit Samvad India Foundation. As well, Makarand is a regular guest speaker or organizer at several conferences, seminars and workshops worldwide.
